Our man at the scene reports...
The time is 06:30am, the place - Electronics Boutique, Bath. Around 15 die-hard gamers have assembled, huddled around the heat of a single match. A few older couples join the back of the queue, probably at the behest of some spoilt child.
Electronics Boutique have decided to open at 07:00, a full two hours early, in order to supply those gamers with the foresight to pre-order. We took the opportunity to have a chat with the lucky few and found that they were all more than happy to fork out £199 for the latest technology, especially with its Internet connectivity.
Here's our pick of the comments:
"I'm getting one because of the graphics. They're mint!"
"It's all that Internet thing, innit? That's worth £200 in itself."
"Ready 2 Rumble. I'm getting me some of that action."
Exciting stuff, eh? After the doors opened, we stuck around to see just what these Sega fans would buy. Pretty much everyone grabbed a copy of Ready 2 Rumble, along with a second controller. TrickStyle was shifting pretty well too, closely followed by Sonic Adventure. The woeful Blue Stinker - sorry, Stinger - was stylishly passed over by one and all, as was Power Stone for some bizarre reason.
