| That's Tee Time, Not Tea Time |
The golf section of the N64 library just got a little more crowded thanks to Infogrames
Etiquette was breached and tackiness ran amok when the US snatched victory from the Europeans in the Ryder Cup a few weeks ago. The inconsiderate behaviour of the US team as they stormed the 17th green after Justin Leonard's amazing 45-foot putt caused the biggest rift in Euro-American relations since that whole David Hasselhoff fiasco of the '80s.
Fortunately, Infogrames have taken steps to repair this damage with the announcement of PGA European Tour for the N64. Many of your favourite European players and courses will be present and accounted for, in a game that should be more sim-like than Mario Golf and a tad deeper than Waialea Country Club.
February 2000 will see the release of the N64's first golfing sim since 1998 and there'll be plenty to keep fans of the game interested. Players like Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Nick Faldo and the Spanish sensation Sergio Garcia have lent their names to this one, and we'd expect one of those fellas to be the cover boy for European Tour. Unlike Waialea, you'll get a whopping four courses to choose from, including the N64-exclusive course at Carnoustie, Scotland - site of the 1999 British Open.
Many of the people that worked on the Actua Golf games for the PlayStation are involved in European Tour, but expect all-new motion captured animations, intricate sound elements and realistic environmental effects for the N64.
We'll have more on PGA European Tour, like whether or not you can heckle Colin Montgomerie like a good, rowdy American sports fan (who can't handle his lager), as soon as possible.
