According to our extensive research, the name Mevlut indicates the qualities of a leader and organiser whose inability to concentrate interferes with achieving his goals. Mev Dinc came to the UK from Turkey in 1979 in order to study economic planning, but was sidetracked after seeing his mate's ZX Spectrum. In 1985 he released his first game, Gerry The Germ Goes Body Poppin'. It wasn't long before his obsession became a full-time job and Vivid Image was born. The Harrow-based studio rapidly established a good reputation with the highly successful The First Samurai on the Amiga and Street Racer (a Mario Kart clone) on the Super Nintendo.
Things haven't been so sweet of late, however, after last year's multiformat racer SCARS was slated by the press. Eidos recently added insult to injury by cancelling Street Racer 2 after many months of development.
So what next for Mevlut Dinc and Vivid Image? Another racing game perhaps? A console remake of The First Samurai? Nope. Mev is currently working on an interactive movie. For his sake we hope that it's more Shenmue than 7th Guest.
