Need For Speed: Porsche 2000

Teutonic test drivers required...

Electronic Arts have announced the latest instalment in their ongoing Need For Speed series for PC and PlayStation. Need For Speed: Porsche 2000 allows you to experience the thrills of driving some of the most revered sports cars in the world from Porsche's 50 year history. There will be 40 distinct models on offer, starting with the 1948 356 Roadster and finishing with this year's 996 Turbo.

The game begins in 1948, when you're hired as a Porsche test driver at the prestigious test facility in Stuttgart, Germany. You'll need to test various models on the track and the open road, as well as delivering new cars to locations around the world. In addition, you'll buy your own Porsche, racing it at weekends to earn extra dosh. The game features a persistent economy, whereby cars and their parts wear out based on mileage, age and type of use.

The PC version will support up to eight players over LAN or Internet, while the PlayStation version will offer four-player split-screen shenanigans for the first time in the series. Both will be released on March 31, 2000.
