Resident Evil Meets GoldenEye

Details on Revolution Software's cinematic PlayStation adventure, In Cold Blood

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Revolution Software have announced details about their upcoming PlayStation game, In Cold Blood. It has been described as a cinematic adventure and sounds like a cross between Resident Evil and GoldenEye.

The game is set in the future and has the player take on the role of John Cord, a British Special Agent who has been sent to Volgia on a routine mission.

Revolution plan to use professional screenwriters and have the game's story unfold through a series of flashbacks. "Our objective was to employ compelling gameplay, visuals and innovative storytelling to create a stunning interactive game with the tension and excitement of the very best blockbuster action movie," said Charles Cecil, Managing Director of Revolution Software. "The strength of In Cold Blood comes from the game's unique gameplay."

The graphics will include pre-rendered backgrounds in the same vein as Resident Evil and will feature 3D polygonal characters that will cast real-time shadows.

This promising-looking PlayStation adventure will be released on two discs and has a US release date of second quarter 2000.
