Computer manufacturers Tiny join the list of free Internet Service Providers.
From March 31 ’99, Tiny Computers Limited will be launching their own free Internet Service Provider called Tiny On-Line. The service will consist of free Internet access and email. There are no subscription or registration charges and the service will also offer each subscriber five personal email addresses, 15Mb of Web space, Internet Explorer 4.0, Outlook Express and a full range of support services including email technical back-up, online assistance and a multimedia guide to the Internet.
Tiny are also offering another service come June ’99 whereby they will be adding the facility for users to design their own portals. Each user will be able to have a personalised portal that shows the relevant information that they request on the front screen.
“This forms part of Tiny’s long term Internet strategy – the first stage was ecommerce which was introduced at the start of this year, becoming an ISP is stage 2. Future plans will see the portal become fully personalised for specific tastes with much improved content and a range of further Web services open to us,” commented Tiny’s project director, Paul Kemp.
Tiny On-Line will be provided free of charge, pre-installed on all new Tiny PCs and available to everyone on CD from all of Tiny's 91 showrooms.
