Titus enter PlayStation fighting ring.
Plucky French publishers Titus have taken the brave decision to debut on the PlayStation, in one of the most demanding and crowded genres, with their 3D fighting game Evil Zone.
The game, developed by Japanese software house Yukes, is unlike the more traditional 3D fighters in that the special moves are more important than your normal punch, kick, block. Future Gamer has been lucky enough to try the Japanese version of the game and it’s very apparent that Evil Zone’s more a contest of special moves, governed by button combinations and proximity to the enemy, than is usual.
There are some 10 fighters in the game and their armoury consists of an attack and a defend button. It’s the clever use of these in combination with moves on the direction pad that invokes that characters repertoire of special moves.
As you’d expect, each fighter has his/her own style of fighting and range of special moves – from splitting into multiple fighters, to calling upon satellites to fire laser beams at the enemy. And then they start getting bizarre. Multiple camera angles follow the action which takes place across 11 gorgeous backgrounds. The game’s due for release in June, so watch out for a full preview in Future Gamer nearer the time.
