Connectix are continuing development of their PlayStation emulator for the PC, despite the recent legal wrangling with Sony. Apparently the courts have rejected Sony’s most recent request – they wanted Connectix to hand over all prototypes of the Windows emulator and cease development of the product. “We are pleased that the court has for a second time rejected Sony’s attempt to broadly restrict our efforts through CVGS (Connectix Virtual Game Station) to give consumers more flexibility in how they use their PlayStation games,” said Roy McDonald, president of Connectix. A victory for common sense? Only time can tell.

Fox Interactive’s rather lovely Aliens Vs Predator is set to woo cinema-goers in the US. As of March 12, the one-minute trailer will be shown during the previews in United Artist theatres. It is the first theatrical trailer of a game by a major movie studio.

SouthPeak Interactive have been named as the developer/publisher of the PC and PlayStation games based on the forthcoming Will Smith movie, Wild, Wild West. The movie follows the fortunes of two wily government agents (sounds familiar) sent to stop a mad scientist, who is planning to assassinate the President. The PC game will take you on a brand new quest, beyond the scope of the film – you’ll be challenged to use both a keen mind and quick trigger finger in a race against time to save another president (that leaves SouthPeak room for at least another twenty sequels). SouthPeak will announce details on the completely separate storyline for the PlayStation game in the coming weeks. Another president per chance?

Japan. The land of the rising sun. And cartoon porn. And vending machines stocked with schoolgirl’s dirty pants. What a fantastically rich and diverse culture. And what a fantastically bizarre game they have for us this week. Class King Yamazaki for the Game Boy Color is another one of those virtual pet-type things that the Japanese love so much. Not that strange really, apart from the fact that the characters are all lumps of shit! The ‘Unchis’, as they are known in Japan, assist our hero, Yamazaki, on his many adventures. As for the associated merchandise, the pick of the crop has to be the little plastic toilet – fill it with your favourite (fake) Unchis, then press the button to launch them at your friends. What fun!
