Creative unleash 3D Blaster Savage4.
Things are certainly hotting up in the 3D accelerator wars, with the imminent release of both Creative’s 3D Blaster Savage4 and 3Dfx’s Voodoo3.
Future Gamer took a close look at Creative’s latest offering earlier this week and we were mightily impressed.
Featuring 32Mb of SDRAM, a 300MHz RAMDAC and hardware-assisted DVD, the 3D Blaster Savage4 can support textures of up to 2048 x 2048 pixels. This was demonstrated to great effect using the Unreal engine. The custom level was decked out like an Egyptian tomb, with beautifully decorated walls.
As we approached the wall, the image became sharper as in real life, and we were able to make out tiny details that were previously barely visible - the whole wall was intricately embossed with hieroglyphics. Closer inspection revealed the porous surface of the stone itself.
Best of all, the 3D Blaster Savage4 is yours for a measly £99.
