Interplay E3 line-up

Carmageddon and Earthworm Jim revealed

Interplay Productions will show their 1999 line-up of games at E3 next week including Earthworm Jim 3D and Carmageddon for the N64.

Vis Interactive are bringing the deranged Earthworm Jim brand to the N64 with a new engine and smooth polygon technology. The witty humour of everyone's favourite spaceworm game will be set in fully interactive polygonal environments. Interplay claim that all of the new technology put into the game will give Earthworm Jim 3D a cartoon feel to it as players go through a series of puzzles and games in their efforts to save Jim's sanity.

The Carmageddon series of games for the PC took road rage to another level with its wanton automotive violence. N64 owners will get an all-new version of the title with new challenges specifically designed for the console. This does not necessarily mean it will be Nintendo-ized and purged of all violence but the PC versions of the game rewarded players for running down innocent pedestrians. It'll be quite a change in direction to see action like that on the N64.

Interplay also revealed plans to release Wild Water World Championships for the N64. Details are sparse but the title is a water racer with a cartoon look to it as well. The story behind the game involves a gathering of eccentric millionaires who get together and bet their cash on the races. Interplay say there will be 27 characters, six tracks, numerous weapons and plenty of obstacles to overcome.
