Konami are to release World Soccer 2 for Game Boy Color on June 24 in Japan. The sequel to the popular Game Boy title features 32 world teams and a total of 512 player characters. The graphics and animation will of course be vastly improved since the original. Heck, the pitch will be green! On the same day, Konami will release Track & Field for Game Boy Color. Expect all the usual events (running, chucking, etc.) plus link cable support for two-player action.

Sony are undeniably the winners of ‘most bizarre game title’ this week, with the announcement of Exceed My Corpse for PlayStation. The forthcoming RPG is set in ancient Japan, but not as historians would have you believe. An evil red demon has taken over the world and placed a particularly nasty curse on our hero – his children will only live for 17 years. Shame. Anyway, your ultimate goal is to defeat the demon, thus lifting the curse and enabling future offspring to celebrate their 18th birthday. Don’t be surprised if there’s some sort of breeding/dating theme throughout.

Konami are currently working on a version of Castlevania for Bandai’s WonderSwan handheld. Scheduled for a July release, this version will feature a brand new story, as well as all-new characters.

Barmy Japanese arcade thing, Guitar Freaks, is set for a PlayStation release on July 29. The console version features a new practice mode, three new songs not found in the arcade version and support for the new Guitar Freaks controller. The game will cost 5,800 yen (£30) on release, with the guitar-shaped controller weighing in at 5,980 yen. But don’t worry – you can use your Beat Mania controller too!

Capcom have confirmed that a Dreamcast version of Street Fighter III is currently under development. It is not yet known whether this is a straight port from an existing version.

Dynamix have announced the sequel to their popular online frag-fest Starsiege Tribes. The new game will feature a new tribe – the Bioderms – as well as new worlds, new weapons and a brand spanking new terrain engine. "With Tribes 2, we are striving to maximise the multiplayer experience by taking it a leap forward into the next generation," said Jeff Tunnell, executive producer and co-founder of Dynamix. "Our mission for Tribes 2 is to be the number one squad warfare game across all platforms anywhere in the world."
