Sega of Japan will release the new version of their Dreamcast Internet browser on August 5. Dream Passport 2 will come with new features like Macromedia Flash, JavaScript support, MPEG streaming and email attachment support. Owners of the original Dream Passport can upgrade free of charge until August 31. After this date, a charge will be made for shipping and handling.
Square Soft have teamed up with Toyota of America to give gamers the chance to win a new car. North American gamers who pre-order Final Fantasy VIII will be entered into a raffle to win one of four Toyota ECHO cars. But don't worry if you don't win the wheels - everyone who pre-orders gets a 'cool' T-shirt or baseball cap. Which is nice.
Well it's all been happening on the Future Gamer Chat Forum this week. 'Luc' has confirmed our deepest fear with the admission that he is indeed a geek (due to some obscure reference to a pre-Star Wars George Lucas film). Now if it were the wonderful American Graffiti it would be fine. 'brad_lacey' is still trying to plug his website (grrr... those cheeky Aussie's). Other forum users have been venting their frustration with Driver - they can't believe that a game so full of bugs has actually been released. We can. It's all to do with cash flow, unsurprisingly. It happens on the PC all the time, but at least you can download a patch. The Future Gamer Clan seems to have really picked up over the past week. Interest has certainly been bolstered by the promise of 'official' clan T-shirts to wear to ECTS.
A bit of a mixed bag of demos this week. First up we've got Sinistar Unleashed, THQ's unique update of the scary arcade classic. If that gets a bit too hectic you can always relax with some virtual eight-ball in Arcade Pool 2, before straddling Castrol Honda Superbike 2000 and riding off into the sunset. What are you waiting for? Get them now from the Future Gamer website.
New additions to the Hints and Tips database include Pen Pen Tricelon on the Dreamcast, TA: Kingdoms on PC, Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PlayStation and World Driver Championship on N64. We've also got patches and upgrades for all the latest PC games.
