V-Rally drives in early

Retail decides that V-Rally 2 IS on sale!

Trade paper MCV described it as 'the industry's worst ever outbreak of early selling'. Despite Infogrames' protestations to the forth, the multiple retailers decided that V-Rally 2 should hit the shelves on June 25 rather than the July 2 date which the publisher wanted. V-Rally 2 sold 5,000 copies last Friday and Saturday propelling it to number three in the charts. No bad for a game 'not on sale'.

Of course, this begs the question, why did Infogrames give them the stock a week before they wanted them to sell the game? Independent retailers were worst hit because their copies of the game only arrived on June 29, according to MCV.

You get the feeling that Infogrames probably don't give a monkeys, simply because loads of copies of their game have been sold. Bet they're upset that everyone's selling it for £29.99, though...
