| Sega of Japan Issue a Firm Warning Regarding Shenmue |
This game is a little too real for some. Kids, don't play with the phone
AM2's Shenmue prides itself on making the game playing experience more real than ever before, but perhaps some people out there should remain trapped in the second dimension forever.
At shenmue.com, Sega of Japan have put up a notice which roughly translates as: "Advisory Regarding the Use of the Telephone Numbers in Shenmue." It tells Japanese gamers that the phone numbers in Shenmue are not to be dialled in real life. Sega's reason for posting the message in the first place? Apparently, the number of calls to the numbers found in Shenmue have gone up considerably of late.
Will Sega of Europe have a similar problem when the game comes out over here? Well, in its current form Shenmue uses the Japanese dialling system. Maybe this will be incentive enough for SOE to not change too much as they translate the title.
