Rage's upcoming 3D shooter, Expendable, will feature bonus levels played from a first-person perspective. The game, a follow-up of sorts to last year's Incoming, will be available on Dreamcast, PlayStation and PC. The PC version is set for a May 7 European release. The Dreamcast version will apparently be ready for the console's US and European launch, although the likelihood of Expendable being a launch title in either territory is entirely up to Sega.
Squaresoft have unveiled their line up for next month's E3, and unless they're being sneaky there are no real surprises. Lucky attendees will be able to take a look at the US version of Final Fantasy VIII, as well as Ehrgeiz, Chocobo Racing, Chocobo's Dungeon 2, Final Fantasy Anthology and SaGa Frontier II.
We love weird game titles as much as the next person, the current office favourite being Sega's latest Dreamcast RPG, Super Invention Boy Kanipan. The game is based on a popular anime of the same name and has some sumptuous battle sequences. During the adventure, you'll be required to develop your own weapons and equipment. Best of all you get to train robots on the VMS and then send them in to do battle for you.
Some new information has surfaced regarding Namco's new Tekken 3 Tag Tournament arcade machine. For the first time in the series you'll have five buttons instead of four. The fifth button will be used to tag your second character during a fight. The retiring character's health will be slowly restored while resting, which is nice. Other uses of the fifth button include the power to launch dual air combos, a la Rival Schools.
The writer and director of the forthcoming Tomb Raider movie have been announced. The writer is Steven E. De Souza, responsible for the excellent Die Hard and Die Hard 2 and the pump Hudson Hawk. The director is Stephen Herek who brought us the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and the bogus The Mighty Ducks. But what we all want to know is, who will play Lara Croft? This is unfortunately yet to be announced, although Future Gamer plumps for Jennifer Connelly, solely due to her ample talents. Does Lara really have to be English? Or athletic? Oh no... please God don't let it be Sporty Spice!
