Realtime strategy finally makes it to the N64
Westwood's PC and PlayStation masterpiece Command & Conquer will be released for the N64 in late June. And about time too.
If you're not familiar with the basic premise of the game then you've been asleep for the last few years. If you are familiar with the game then you'll probably want to know what to expect from the N64 version.
Most notable will be the graphics - all the units and buildings have made the transition to 3D. Expansion Pak support should ensure that all your battles are fought in glorious hi-res. The sound will allegedly be comparable to the PC version, with an impressive amount of speech included thanks to advanced sound compression techniques.
While a mouse is the ideal pointing device, the N64 controller should suffice and may even have a few benefits. Grouping a bunch of units and assigning them to a button will enable quick and easy switching during battle.
The biggest casualty is likely to be the multiplayer capability, so popular on the PC. With no modem or link cable, the only option on the N64 would be split-screen, although this would certainly eliminate the tactical element of surprise.
