Flight Unlimited III for PC |
Looking Glass Studios developing new flight sim
A new instalment in the Flight Unlimited series is due to land in September. Developed by American coders Looking Glass Studios, Flight Unlimited III is set in Seattle's metropolitan region, an area that includes over 65 airports. It's one of those 'realistic' fellows with air traffic control barking at you and constantly changing weather patterns. All the terrain is based on US Geographical Survey data so if you live in the Seattle area you'll be able to swoop over the house and scare your mum. Cough...
The environment will be interactive, featuring moving trains (wouldn't happen in England, eh?), ships and other mobile ground-based objects. You can fly five planes from different eras including a Fokker DR1 (to bomb Stan Boardman's chippy), a Beech Bonanza, a Stemme S10-VT, a Chrysalis, a DeHavenot Muskrat and a Mooney TLS Bravo. Hopefully that means something to some of you.
Flight Unlimited III features a plethora of missions and there's a simulated flight instructor on hand to help you out. It's also backwardly compatible with Flight Unlimited II which was set in the San Francisco area. Await its release in September with bated breath.
