| Beeb launch new, free ISP |
'freebeeb.net' to join the growing list of free Internet access services
BBC Worldwide's commercial web service, beeb.com, has formed a strategic alliance with Scottish Telecom – owners of Demon Internet, to provide a new free Internet access service: freebeeb.net. The service, starting in the summer will provide anyone in the UK with a free, easy-to-use Internet connection.
"So what?" you might well ask, "there are dozens of free ISPs around these days, in fact I'm signed up to one already". And who could blame you? With all the free ISPs clamouring for your attention, each one has sought its own unique selling point. Some have gone for free web space, others for free technical support, and others for free unlimited email addresses.
The BBC have decided freebeeb.net's unique selling point shall be to have no advertising on the home page, which should appeal to everyone who's fed up with having to suffer unwanted web advertising. The service will also offer free email accounts, free web space and is designed to work on both Mac and PC platforms.
