PC games championship wants women
Our friends at the UK PC Gaming Championship have sent us this heartfelt plea asking for more women to sign up for the aforementioned competition. So, in the spirit of things, we print their impassioned missive in its entirety...
Any of you gals think you have the muscle to take on the big boys of the gaming fraternity? We do - and we know you're out there. After all these years of suffrage why not come and show the boys what you're made of and teach them a trick or two?
The organisers of the UK PC Games Championship are looking for as many female teams as possible to take up the chance to participate in the competition and potentially walk away with the title. Sponsored by AMD and Microsoft's MSN Gaming Zone, competitors will have the chance to compete on state-of-the-art equipment and test their skills against the crème de la crème of UK talent.
The games for the event are split into four categories: shoot 'em ups (Unreal and Quake II), strategy (Age of Empires and Total Annihilation), sports (Actua Soccer 3 and Jimmy White's Cueball) and driving (Need For Speed III and Motocross Madness).
With £1500 up for grabs just for winning the regional final and a possible £10,000 and PCs worth £2,000 for the eventual winners, you would be silly to ignore this opportunity.
Regional finals are taking place in London (June 5 - you've missed that one!), Birmingham (June 12), Cardiff (July 3), Glasgow (July 10) and Manchester (August 7), not to mention a drop-in qualifier all summer in London's The Playing Fields, before the Grand Final on September 18. With a returnable £20 deposit and a goody bag that includes PC games for all entrants, you're already onto a winner before you've even played your first game.
So, don't delay, sign up today. Go to the UKPCGC website.
