Virtual hogs hit the PC

GT Interactive secure coveted Harley-Davidson licence

If there's one thing the videogame industry has taught us, it's that any marketable property will eventually be made into a game, no matter how ridiculous. In a press release that went out today, GT Interactive's Wizardworks (the same folks who brought us Deer Hunter) kept the tradition alive by announcing that they are teaming up with Harley-Davidson to bring us Harley-Davidson's Race Across America.

The new game, which should be hitting shelves later this year, promises to recreate the open road experience by delivering a, "virtual, three-dimensional re-creation of the classic Harley-Davidson road trip experience".

Once players jump into the game, they'll be given a chance to pick their own motorcycle from several classic Harley models and to select one of three starting locations: Arizona Desert, New England countryside, or California Redwoods. Afterwards, their goal will be to race across America to get to the Sturgis, South Dakota rally.

According to the release, dangers along the way will include wildlife, slippery roads, falling rocks and tunnels. This reporter has not yet been informed if the developers will attempt to complete the road-trip experience by adding toxic rest stops, speed freak truckers or overzealous law enforcement officers.
