Virgin to distribute Carmageddon

Can we expect a controversial ad campaign for gory racer?

The PlayStation, N64 and Game Boy Color versions SCi's controversial racing game Carmageddon will be distributed in Europe by Virgin, once renowned for their 'shocking' ad campaigns for games in days of yore.

The deal is a sub-licensing affair with Titus, who have a controlling interest in Interplay, who in turn have a partnership with Virgin (are you still with us?).

"Carmageddon I and Carmageddon II have now sold in excess of one million units on the PC alone, so we have high hopes for its future success on PlayStation, N64 and Game Boy Color," Sci boss Jane Cavanagh told trade paper CTW.

The game is set to release on all formats on September 17. The once high-profile Virgin Interactive are gradually rebuilding their profile. About time too, say we.
