U R wired! help avert Internet credit card fraud

Internet videogames sales service U R wired! have played an integral role in a police sting operation which resulted in the arrest of a man for credit card fraud. A company employee became suspicious at a man's large order of PlayStation games and when his details were checked they appeared to be ficticious. U R wired! contacted the police who sent a dummy package to an address in Kent. They swooped when the fellow opened his post.

The card wasn't stolen, rather it was a system used by the suspect to use valid credit card numbers belonging to unsuspecting victims. How he came about them isn't known. Still, it's rather worrying, eh?

"I think it's important for U R wired! to share its experiences with the rest of the retail industry, in particular the online retail sector," commented Mattias Lamotte, owner and founder of U R wired!. "Credit card fraud is still prevalent and it's important for the interactive entertainment industry to work closely with the police and each other to beat it".
