Hollywood Video have announced that Dreamcast rental will be available at over 1,000 of their North American stores as of July 15. For $19.99 lucky US gamers will get the chance to take the new console home for a night of digital passion. The price includes one game, with others available for $4.99. Some of us may be slightly put off by the $350 returnable deposit, while others will surely seize the opportunity to try the new console before its September 9 release.
An Origin employee has been fired after being reported for misconduct. The employee, an Ultima Online GM (Game Master) is believed to have been selling virtual real estate and gold on the eBay auction website, for large amounts of real money. Future Gamer recently reported that some people were selling Ultima characters legitimately for as much as $2,000. The following is an excerpt from the official statement on the Ultima Online website - "On Thursday, June 24th, Origin Systems (OSI) was alerted to the possible misconduct of an individual employed within the GM Support Department. Upon investigation, OSI found reason to believe that this employee was engaging in activities that breached the trust that must exist between a company, its employees, and its customers. The decision by OSI management in this case was immediate dismissal. If you believe that a GM or any OSI representative is behaving in anything less than the highest standard of service, we ask you to please email complaints@owo.com with the details of your issue. Only the most senior representatives of our support staff read this mailbox, and we assure you that your issue will be thoroughly investigated. We take our responsibility to our customers very seriously, and we will not allow anyone - staff or otherwise - to abuse our service or our customers."
Older readers may remember Kajagoogoo, the dreadful '80s pop combo fronted by the freakish imp Limahl (eh?). Konami obviously do, albeit subconsciously, as they have just announced the sequel to last year's PlayStation hit (in Japan at least) Dance Dance Revolution. The new game is to be called Goo Goo Soundy and will be the usual fare - dance in time with your favourite pop tunes by pressing the correct buttons. You'll be able to use your own music CDs, as well as various bizarre controllers from other similar titles. But can you actually get Kajagoogoo's greatest hits on CD? We want to dance along to the truly awful Too Shy. "Hey girl! Move a little closer..." Oh dear.
