Tommy's Game Boy

Nintendo's Tommy Hilfiger promotion deal bears strange yellow fruit

Nintendo originally signed a deal with national clothing giant Tommy Hilfiger last year to promote the release of the N64 hit 1080 Snowboarding - now the Big "N" returns with a somewhat strange follow-up to the tie-in.

Under the promotion, shoppers who purchase at least $50 worth of Tommy Hilfiger clothing have the option to purchase a limited edition, Tommy Hilfiger-branded Game Boy Color for an additional $57.50. The deal runs for two weeks starting July 25 in the South of the United States, from August 1 in the West and from August 8 in Central and Eastern US.

Sadly, the limited edition Hilfiger Game Boy is anything but special. Imagine the least popular of all the Color units - the yellow Game Boy - and slap a Tommy Hilfiger logo on it... that's it. It's time Nintendo got a little more original and brought out some truly 'special' special editions. Still, if you're into Hilfiger clothes and you're looking to save a few bucks, the Game Boy Hilfiger might float your boat.
