A gaming dual processor system is ready for your well-earned dollar
Palo Alto-based PC manufacturers GamePC have announced their latest computer: the Excalibur, a dual CPU system targeted specifically at gamers.
"The dual CPU market is not just limited to graphic designers and servers anymore," said Vice President Phil Chiang about the system, which features two Intel Celeron 300MHz CPUs, overclocked to 450MHz. Dual processors are traditionally used for graphic design or for servers (the Windows NT operating system keeps most gamers away), but the company are confident that dual-processing power is ready for the gaming masses.
The system does use Windows NT but can also boot in Windows 98. Chiang pointed out that "id Software's Quake 3: Arena will be the first computer game to specifically take advantage of a dual CPU configuration. Microsoft's Windows 2000 will also be able to handle multiple processors. With the impending release of applications like these, our users are looking for affordable, high performance solutions."
