Will retail target N64 games next for price cuts?
With the price of PlayStation games dropping to £29.99, it's thought that multiple retailers may target N64 games next for reductions. The cost of producing cartridges is considerably higher than compact discs, but nonetheless, many N64 games are some £20 more expensive than their PlayStation counterparts.
Dick Francis, head of Nintendo distributor THE Games, told trade paper MCV: "I have so far seen no evidence of discounting on N64 titles, although I am aware that the pressure could be put on our prices now." Francis also claimed that N64 sales increased some 26 per cent last week due to the increase in advertising from retailers.
Star Wars Racer at £29.99? Don't hold your breath.
