Spawn for GBC

Comic book hero comes to Game Boy Color

Konami have teamed up with Todd McFarlane Productions to digitally translate comic hero Spawn onto the Game Boy Color. The side-scrolling game marries platform action with beat 'em up and driving sequences. Spawn has to pummel his way through gangs of hooligans, both human and supernatural, in this exploration of good versus evil. If you know the comic book (and hey, don't we all?) then you're more than likely to recognise characters such as Jason Wynn, Billy Kincaid, Malebolgia, Tremor and Baby Face Finlayson (the last one was a lie - he's from The Beano).

The levels are broken up with comic-book-style cinematic scenes, and there's also artwork and voice samples. In one bit, you get to hurtle along on a motorcycle in a high-speed chase. Those with the monochrome Game Boy would be well advised to invest in the colour version as Spawn doesn't work on the former. The game is expected to be released in the autumn.
