Dear Future Gamer
I own a PlayStation and am very excited about the PlayStation2, particularly the ability to turn it on its side. However, a constant criticism levelled at the PlayStation by jealous Nintendo 'One-Game Wonder' 64 owners is that the majority of games currently being released are sequels. Now don't get me wrong, if a game is good (say Wip3out, FIFA 99, GTA 2), it doesn't matter too much if it's a sequel. But developers need to come up with more ideas for original games, even if they're not original concepts. Otherwise, we'll end up playing Final Fantasy XII and Tekken 6 when we finally get our hands on the PS2.
The Dreamcast is attempting to bring a breath of fresh air into the console world, but look at some of its launch titles: Sonic Adventure, Virtua Fighter 3tb, Soul Calibur... They've all been done before, albeit with lesser technology. Okay, so Powerstone and a few other games look promising, but if Sega aren't careful then they'll end up with the Saturn II on their hands. I just hope Sony don't make the same mistake.

FG:
You're not the first person to mention the fact that you can stand the PlayStation2 on its side, but I don't get it. You can stand the PlayStation on its side now if you want. I agree with your point that a good game is a good game, whether it's a sequel or not, and yes, some more originality in games design would be nice. This is a long road we've been down many, many times in Feedback before though, so we're not going to go there.
