One-Nil to ISS?

Dear Future Gamer

Footy games are constantly improving but the problem is most of the games are becoming rigid in their style. For example, FIFA 99 may be good, but scoring goals isn't satisfactory unless it's on World Class setting. Plus, each shot is identical to the next - there isn't much difference in aiming the shot or selecting power.

I was playing Actua Soccer 2 the other day and I was amazed at how smooth it was. It was a great feeling to score, and the shots on goal looked great, but there wasn't much difference in the shot types. Each and every shot action looked the same.

In conclusion, ISS has to be the best - it just needs to be speeded up a bit, and more teams for leagues, cups, etc, would be great. One more question: was Premier Stars 2000 coded by a British development team? It would explain the step back in the series. Not that UK development teams are rubbish, or anything like that!

FG: You can't please all of the people all of the time, and football games can polarise opinion. One man's ISS is another man's FIFA, but it's that rigidity you mention which is so annoying. Sensible Soccer on the Amiga allowed you to play many different types of football, and Future Gamer's favourite, Actua Soccer 3, is one of the few around today which gives you the freedom to do what you like. Incidentally, it was coded by a British development team - Gremlin in Sheffield.
