Dear Future Gamer
In response to Neil Clowrey's letter about people rarely playing games when they come back from the pub.
Sorry Mr Clowrey, but coming back from the pub and firing up Gran Turismo or Colin McRae Rally and discovering that being pissed does indeed make you shit at driving is one of life's pleasures. Puzzle Bobble/Bust-a-Move is fab when drunk, though you do tend to punch your mates more when they drop half a screen on you. Lighten up, my dear fellow. Multiplayer gaming apres-bender is one of life's more enjoyable pastimes and ought to be encouraged whenever possible.
Your touching misconception that games aren't played by adults is highly inaccurate. I'm 30, have played videogames all my life and don't foresee myself growing out of them. If I'm not part of the "pub generation" by now then I never will be. There are also many 20-something gamers who can only be described as adults. I also know gamers in their 50s. Your family just isn't an entirely representative example any more, that's all.
My advice for you is: grow a little older, then go to the pub, come back with your mates and do all of the above. You'll soon see that I'm right.
Michael Foster
FG:
I think Neil's been put straight on his misconception that games and booze don't mix. Again, let's move on shall we?
