About the looks of the PlayStation2 - maybe Sony are trying to pitch the machine to a slightly older audience and have tried to design a machine that will look okay on top of the video. Basically, less like a toy. What would you rather have? A grey, odd-shaped box or something that looks like a flash DVD player? I was definitely going to buy one until I found out about the Microsoft machine (the 'X-Box'), but now I'm in two minds. Top mag by the way. I've just received my first issue and I'm very impressed.

FG: Sure, PlayStation 2 looks damned slick and Sony want it to become an integral part of everyone's home entertainment system, but five years ago we were saying the same thing about the original PlayStation. As for the shadowy X-Box, it might be a while before it sees the light of day. For now, we're looking forward to the launch of Dreamcast. Mmm, Soul Calibur...
