Top 20 Test

Dear Future Gamer

In respect to games platforms and the number of games they have, most people would agree that quantity is most definitely not quality. However, just for fun, try this:

For the current top dogs (PC, PSX and N64 - DC is still too young) try making up a list of top 20 games. Now give them all a rating out of five (a lot of the games on these lists should be in the five-out-of-five region). Now add up the number of games that you gave five out of five to for each platform.

I won't bore you with my list, but the way I see it, PSX has 17 out of 20 all-time classics, PC 13 and N64 12. Now, please understand this is NOT a "mine is better than yours" exercise. It just seems to me that, despite everyone arguing that N64 is a great console because all the titles are of the highest quality and PSX is swamped with "low quality sequels", it actually seems that this console has the largest number of classics. However, you could argue that this is down to PSX having the largest number of games, but the PC has an even more comprehensive catalogue and can't do better than PSX. Just a thought.

FG: It's an interesting exercise, Shaun, but largely pointless. Why not include the Amiga, Spectrum and Atari 2600 as well? There were some great games for those machines too. But then again, what I consider to be a great game, someone else is bound to think is pants. See what I'm getting at?
