Online Horse Racing Sim For Japanese Dreamcast

The makers of Pen Pen Triicelon and Let's Make a Pro Baseball Team have gone too far!

General Entertainment, the makers of Pen Pen Triicelon and the Tsukurou series (which currently consists of Let's Make a Pro Baseball Team and Let's Make a J-League Soccer Team) have no plans of letting up soon. From the Hochi newspaper, the same publication that first revealed Sega GT to the world, comes news that GE are working on the most unlikely simulation of them all, Let's Make a Derby Stallion Racer.

The object of the game seems to be to raise a horse, and pit it in online races against other horses raised in homes all across Japan, with Sega holding Sunday events to determine champions. The game will also feature real-life horses, and the ability to download new data, based on recent stats. And, of course, much like the other two games in the series, the presentation will be in full 3D, with lifelike camera angles for the races. You'll recall that Let's Make a Pro Baseball Team and Let's Make a J-Leage Soccer Team differed in that the baseball game had cartoon graphics while the soccer game had realism to rival Virtua Striker. We're currently unsure of the look Sega's going for with this new title.

Given the success of the previous Let's Make a Pro... games and the Derby Stallion series (the PlayStation version pre-ordered in the millions), we expect this title to cover yet another section of the DC market in Japan, especially with the potential from online play. Is this the future of horse racing, where 10-year-old virtual jockeys take home the prize?
