ISS For PlayStation2 Launch?

Future Gamer gets the details on PSX2 launch title speculation

The Internet is rife with speculation regarding the PlayStation2's European launch line-up. The latest rumour concerns an incarnation of Konami's International Superstar Soccer. Some sites have even stated that ISS will be the first launch title. Strangley, none of the sites bothered to cite sources for these "exclusives". We, of course, asked a spokesman for Konami Europe if there was any truth in the rumour...

"It's highly likely, but the announcement must come from Japan," said the spokesman. "I can neither confirm nor deny that ISS will be a PlayStation2 launch title."

We also contacted Sony, which was equally, non-committal. "I cannot confirm that ISS will be a PlayStation2 launch title," said a spokesman for Sony Europe, "You'll have to talk to Konami."

These political answers can only be expected, especially when Sony is still pushing the original PlayStation with Gran Turismo 2 and another Syphon Filter. There's still life in the old dog yet.
