| Tentacle Sex Scenes Cut |
The most extreme of D2's graphic scenes of manga-style sexual violence are to be cut
Tentacle sex, a common scene in some of the most popular animation in Japan, is now the subject of much controversy, and all of it is centred around the upcoming American release of D2. Are Sega screwing gamers across America by censoring Kenji Eno's horrific tale of a plane crash in Canada gone horribly wrong?
We contacted Sega of America to get the story straight. It turns out that some of the more explicit scenes from the game will indeed be toned down a bit. Specifically, Sega point to a scene towards the beginning of the game where Kimberley is accosted by a tentacle. This scene will still be in the game, but the last few seconds, which depict the tentacle making violent physical contact with Kimberley (use your imagination to determine what happens next in our picture) will be cut out. In all, Sega expect only 60 seconds of footage to be cut throughout the course of the game.
Sega state that the changes aren't being made for marketing purposes. In fact, even with the changes, they still expect the game to receive the mature label. The company want it to be known that they have no problems with mature themes, but they don't want to promote anything inappropriate, and the latter parts of some scenes apparently take things too far.
The game is to be unleashed on the US in the late second quarter of this year, and we're looking forward to those tantalising tentacles reaching across the Atlantic.
