Codemasters Announce Snooker Game

Realistic physics on PlayStation and PC

Codemasters have announced an as-yet-unnamed snooker title for PlayStation and PC, scheduled for a spring 2000 release. The game has the endorsement of Cuemasters, the management company of the major snooker stars, so you'll probably get to play against the likes of Messrs Hendry, Doherty and Williams. The game will also feature The Crucible - snooker's Wembley, if you like.

The game's advanced AI system mimics the characteristics of the pros, simulating 'pressure' shots, tactical play and positional skills.

Deborah Jones, Managing Director of Blade Interactive Studios, the game's developers, said: "This really is the first time a snooker game has been created in a truly authentic manner; there's so much detail in the game - various forms of miscue, ball throws and accidental ball jumps - that the whole playing experience is incredibly immersive."

Providing, of course, that you don't find snooker incredibly dull. How many pensioners actually own PlayStations?
