AMD Up The Ante

Latest Athlon clocked at 750MHz

The Intel/AMD processor war is hotting up once again with the announcement of AMD's latest Athlon chip. The 750MHz Athlon is available now, making it the fastest processor available to the home user.

"With the 750MHz AMD Athlon processor, AMD have rolled out the fastest x86 processor of the millennium, offering computer users unrivalled performance leadership on advanced applications for both the commercial and consumer markets," said Dana Krelle, Vice President of Marketing for AMD's Computation Products Group.

Intel aren't too far behind with their new 733MHz Pentium III and Pentium III Xeon processors, and don't be too surprised if they spring the first 1GHz chip on us in the new year. They've called it the 'Millennium' processor - a marketing execs dream.
