Tesco's Online Price War

Competition frightens High Street stores

Tesco have launched an aggressive pricing strategy on their Tesco Direct website, with some N64 titles available for as little as £49.99!

Are you still here? Click on the link above and you'll be able to pick up the woeful South Park for £49.99, or last year's FIFA '99, also for a penny under 50 notes. PlayStation owners are also in luck - Driver, Crash Bandicoot 3 and Tomb Raider 3 all come in at £49.99 (that's £49.99 each), while the lovely Tekken 3 is a snip at just £54.99. Was Tekken 3 ever £54.99? Even on the day it came out?

Unfortunately, we couldn't find a price for Street Fighter II on the Super Nintendo...

A spokesman for Tesco told trade paper CTW that these prices were set two months ago, based on pricing information at the time. He added that a lower price would be given when a customer phones or logs on to place an order.

Two months ago? Two years more like!
