| Square's PlayStation2 Racing Game |
Square announce new details about their next generation racing game
It's been known for a while now that Square have been working on a racing game for PlayStation2 in Japan, but there hasn't been much information released on it. While full details still haven't been announced, Square have recently released additional information about the title.
Firstly, the racing game has the tentative title of Type-S and it will be a realistic driving simulator in the same vein as Polyphony's Gran Turismo 1 and 2. Furthermore, Type-S will include licensed cars from Japanese automobile manufacturers such as Toyota and Honda. And last but not least, Type-S will also feature a racing view from the perspective of the driver and it will authentically replicate the interiors of the various licensed vehicles.
Based on Square's reputation and the quality of work put out in the past by the development team for Type-S, this game could be one of the most interesting racing titles due for release on PlayStation2. With Ridge Racer V, Gran Turismo 2000 and now Type-S due out in Japan this spring, the system is shaping up to be a racing fan's wet dream. Which is nice.
