| Portable Chocobo on Your PC |
The PocketStation may not be out in the US, but you can now download and play a mini game for free
Final Fantasy VIII is on its way to the PC at the end of this month. When the game was released on PlayStation it included a mini game, Chocobo World, that you could upload to the only-released-in-Japan PocketStation unit. When you play this mini quest, you can enhance spells in the main Final Fantasy VIII when you upload the data back into the PlayStation. The same thing will occur in the PC version, but instead of requiring the use of the PocketStation, you'll be able to play an emulation/simulation of the PocketStation game in a window.
Square have made this game available for download - it's only 1Mb so it shouldn't take you long to snag it. We'd love to just give you the direct link to the download, but Square wanted to be clever so you have to surf through a convoluted Shockwave menu system to get to it. So, have fun finding it - here's the first step in the quest: Get the demo now!
Once there, click on the left mouse button. Then click on the word "Download" that shows up on the monitor. You'll be able to get the demo, as well as read the instructions.
Apparently, the stuff that you earn in this demo won't transfer over to the actual release of Final Fantasy VIII, but don't worry - Chocobo World will be included on the disc as well.
