New Gauntlet Coming to an Arcade Near You

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy coming to arcades this spring. Console versions to follow?

Gauntlet Legends is a fairly popular arcade game, so it's no surprise that Midway are working on a sequel. The follow-up to Legends, titled Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, introduces players to several new characters: the Sorceress, Knight, Dwarf and the Jester (in addition to the Warrior, Valkyrie, Wizard and the Archer, which were available in Legends).

Gamers will be able to select from any of these eight characters, with additional, alternative ones available, as well as secret textures for each of the main characters.

Dark Legacy will feature the four realms from the preceding version, plus four new realms and the Battlefield. There'll also be numerous new secrets and treasures, and all the realms have been updated to include new paths and world animations.

Considering Gauntlet Legends hasn't yet been released on any console, combined with the fact that Gauntlet: Dark Legacy isn't scheduled for release in the arcades until March/April, it's much too early to start talking about a console version. In other words, Midway, get on with it!
