Ridge Racer V Tops Japanese Console Charts

Japanese gamers unperturbed by PS2 'problems'

Despite reports of Sony's PlayStation2 launch blunders, the Japanese punters just can't get enough. Ridge Racer V tops the Japanese console charts after selling a total of 405,820 copies, followed by Kessen, with a respectable 225,462. Bizarre puzzler Fantavision has slipped one place to fourth with total sales of 64,721, while Street Fighter EX3 has drifted to ninth, despite strong early figures.

Game Boy Color software sales were favourable, as usual, with a few uniquely Japanese titles coming to our attention. We just can't wait to get our hands on Atlus' Hamster Paradise 2 (straight in at number 11) and Famous Detective Conan - Buddhist Temple Mechanism Homicide Case from Banpresto.
