| Starlancer Coming to Dreamcast |
Crave to bring Digital Anvil's classic PC space shooter to Sega's console, but will we be able to play it online?
Crave Entertainment have announced that they are publishing a Dreamcast port of the much-praised space combat orgy Starlancer.
Starlancer is a first-person shooter set in the future, where a war is being fought for control of the entire solar system. Players join a ragtag fighter squadron and must prove themselves over 25 missions, from assaults to escort outings.
Set in a 'living universe' where you see other non-combat spacecraft going about their business, the game has spectacular 3D graphics and should look beautiful on Dreamcast.
The question remains, though: will the Dreamcast Starlancer be playable online as a 'massively multiplayer' game when it's released? Maybe not, but Sega's phased web strategy of bringing the more advanced games online only gradually makes this unclear.
We'll give you more information when we have it.
