Software pirates cuffed in UK-wide raids
The war against software piracy continued apace last week, with a series of raids by police and Trading Standards officers taking place across the country.
On Merseyside, a house was raided which turned out to be factory containing over 5,000 suspected counterfeit discs. A man is helping with inquiries.
In Bolton, two stallholders were arrested. £7,000 worth of discs were seized.
In Leicestershire a man was intercepted as he drove to a market in his van. He was relieved of over 400 suspect discs.
In North Ayrshire, a man was arrested after a factory containing £65,000 worth of suspected pirate software was discovered in his house.
Last but not least, a man from Bridgnorth was arrested after £200,000 worth of suspect software was found at a property.
The UK games industry loses an estimated £3 billion every year due to software piracy.
