| Capcom Come Out Swinging in September |
Capcom detail plans for supporting the Dreamcast's American launch
Capcom stand as one of Sega's largest third party supporters, and are a considerable reason for the tremendous enthusiasm people now hold for the Dreamcast in America. The master 2-D fighter company revealed some solid details on its plans for the system's launch, as well as some information regarding their contribution to the recently started Dreamcast rental program.
We've known for a long time now that Capcom's Power Stone is scheduled to ship alongside the Dreamcast on September 9. Hardcore fans of traditional Capcom games have been wondering one thing, though: "What of 2D?" Apparently, Capcom have heard our cries as Marvel vs. Capcom is now scheduled to ship on September 9 as well. That's right, fellow English-speaking gamers - 2D glory is coming your way at the Dreamcast's launch. Best of all, another 2D title will follow shortly after the launch. Street Fighter Alpha 3 is expected around October, and should please all with its arcade perfect graphics and lack of load times.
As for the obvious system seller, a press release issued early today states that Resident Evil Code Veronica is set for a November release, but don't expect it until next year. Capcom's official comment on the matter is: "We'd like to see it come before this year, but don't be surprised if it comes next year." Don't worry guys, you'll be blowing the brains out of evil, Capcom-style zombies next year, more likely than not. For now though, you'd be in good shape if you were to pick up one of Capcom's fighting games at or slightly after the Dreamcast's launch.
