Sega's increased sales continue as DC fares well against PlayStation blockbuster Dino Crisis
The top thirty software sales for the week of June 28 to July 4 are in, and the Dreamcast managed to make a strong presence. Genki's well-received racer, Shutoku Battle, took the list's number nine spot, with 20,929 copies sold for an overall total of 125,715. Sega's highly-rated wrestling game, Giant Gram, took the 15th spot, with 13,055 copies sold for an overall total of 100,975. The only other Dreamcast in the list is SNK's The King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999. SNK's 2D fighter took the 16th spot, with 13,018 sales, for an overall total of 109,958.
Overall, the Dreamcast was responsible for 5.6 per cent of all software sales, compared to the Nintendo 64's 6.0 percent and the PlayStation's unsurprising 87.1%. PlayStation software sales were fuelled by the release of Capcom's latest masterpiece, Dino Crisis, which took the list's top position with sales of 389,968 copies.
The Dreamcast's presence should continue in the upcoming weeks as Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha 3 and CRI's Buggy Heat are to be included in next week's list. From Software's Frame Gride will be featured in the list for the following week.
