Scotland hosts UK's biggest LAN party this weekend

The Magnum Leisure Centre in Irvine, near Glasgow, is going to be pretty busy this weekend as they play host to the UK's biggest LAN party - ScotLAN.

Sponsored by Wireplay (recently acquired by Gameplay.com), the event, running from Friday July 23 to Sunday July 25 is set to attract some 200 gamers from all over the UK. They will be taking part in all manner of tournaments and competitions, including the chance to win PC hardware from top manufacturers like Guillemot and Saitek. There will also be Quake events hosted by Rapture 99.

"We're all looking forward to three days of top quality gaming," said Wireplay's Player Manager Jeff Kaye. "There's a real camaraderie and sense of community about these events, which Wireplay are only too keen to encourage. Let's hope this is just the first of many Scottish LAN parties."

Future Gamer wish everyone taking part the best of luck. It sounds like a cracking event to us and we also hope it's the first of many.
