Banpresto are currently hard at work on Super Robot War Link Battler for Game Boy Color. This handheld addition to their popular Super Robot War series is, unsurprisingly, a breeding/training game - train your robots on the Game Boy and then battle it out on Super Robot War 64 on the N64, by means of the 64GB. The N64 game won't be out for a while so you'll have plenty of time to get your robots in tip-top fighting condition.
Some more info has emerged regarding SNK vs. Capcom: Clash Card Fighters for the Neo Geo Pocket. The game comprises more than 300 battle cards divided into two versions - the SNK supporters' version and the Capcom supporters' version. There are two card types, character and action, and a combination of the two will be required to pull off fancy moves. For example, one player may have a Ryu/Dragon Punch combination while his opponent may be holding the Chun Li/Spinning Bird Kick pairing - everyone knows that Ryu's ferocious leaping punch wins every time. Well, that's how we think it's going to work.
Capcom have altered their US Dreamcast release plan, and for a change it doesn't involve slippage! First up is Power Stone, which will be released on September 1 - that's a week before the September 9 US Dreamcast launch. Marvel vs. Capcom should hit the shelves on the same day as the console, followed by Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which are coming out in October and November respectively. As for the much-publicised Hollywood Video Dreamcast rental scheme, Power Stone will be available to rent on August 1, with Marvel vs. Capcom to follow on August 30.
SCi have set a worldwide release date of November 22 for Carmageddon: The Deathrace 2000 on the PC. This latest incarnation of the vehicular gore-fest will feature a reworked graphics engine, which should achieve double the frame rate of Carmageddon 2.
Square have released some official information regarding the long-awaited PlayStation RPG Chrono Cross. The game's protagonist, Serge, will have adventures galore in an alternate dimension, as opposed to the time travelling shenanigans of Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo. Kid, a strong-minded female character, will assist Serge on his quest against the evil Yamaneca, a half-human/half-bobcat villain who uses a mysterious art during battles.
Each character will have a stamina meter which is depleted with every attack performed during battle. There will also be an elemental power meter which fills up with each attack. Magical attacks will be available when the elemental power meter is full. Square also confirmed that the music in Chrono Cross will be composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, the man responsible for the wonderful Chrono Trigger soundtrack.
