SCi Planning an Italian Job?

Will SCi 'blow the bloody doors off' in new license?

Rumours abound that SCi have secured the rights to famous '60s British film The Italian Job, a movie best remembered for its three Mini Coopers. According to trade paper MCV, the agreement - as yet unconfirmed - covers all formats, including the next consoles from Sony and Nintendo. Certainly, a game based on The Italian Job could tap into the sort of action that has made Driver such a cult on the PlayStation. One can expect SCi to sign the rights with Rover to accurately reproduce the aforementioned Coopers.

SCi might not have the most impressive track record, but Carmaggedon remains one of the PC's most controversial driving games, and a much-delayed PlayStation version is due in September.

The Italian Job is set to spawn a film sequel towards the end of next year, so expect the games to appear around this time. Of course, this audacious swoop should undoubtedly see copycat signings across the board. How about The Rockford Files, eh, Reflections? Hey Valve, what about A Fistful of Dollars?

What other film licenses would you like to see game versions of? Your ideas to the usual feedback address, please. We might even print the top 10, if it's suitable for family viewing.
