Bizarre Creations' Metropolis held up
One of the Dreamcast's most eagerly awaited driving games has been delayed. Metropolis Street Racer is announced on developers Bizarre Creations' website as being a 'launch' title, but they clearly aren't expecting to finish the game before the end of September.
Bizarre Creations have an impressive record when it comes to producing driving games. They developed the first two PlayStation incarnations of Formula One for Psygnosis and set a benchmark standard with F1 '97. Metropolis is expected to do the same for city-based driving games, and it'll be interesting to know whether the delay relates to securing licences (as is mooted) or the gameplay itself.
"We have moved it back to add new licences and new vehicles,," a spokesperson told trade paper MCV. "We're lucky enough to have several strong driving games in the first wave of titles. We have big things planned for Metropolis and it makes sense to separate it from the pack."
Let's hope it sees the light of day before Christmas.
